Whether you started your career in beauty or fresh out of cosmetology school, I feel like this is a great school and a great opportunity for everybody to build your portfolio, to learn all your business techniques, and not only that, but to also get mentored and to get tear sheets from magazines, which I feel is really important, because when you’re out of school, companies look for you to have tear sheets, they look for celebrities in your book. And at any other school, I feel like that’s really hard. When I went to school, I was thrown out into the beauty world and I really didn’t know what to do.

So I feel like this is a really good place to start or even to just continue your career in beauty. I love what Michael and Tal B are doing with this school because it gives you such great insight into the beauty industry and the business part of it. And I feel like it also gives you a lead right into the industry when you graduate from school. It’s a great, great thing and I wish, honestly, that I would have known about this school and that it would have been here about 10 or 13 years ago when I started.

I started off as a cosmetologist, I was doing weddings, just kind of struggling a little bit to find some work. I’d always have that dream of being in Hollywood, you know, big life, the glitz and the glam, everything behind it. And it wasn’t until I met Michael Vincent and Tel B that I really broke into the industry and in a big way. Shooting for FHM, Maxim, Esquire, Sports Illustrated. I started working on celebrities, just in the first month that I met them.

My name is Stacy Gonzalez. I’m 20 years old and I’m a former student from Michael Vincent Academy. Why MVA? They teach you everything. They teach you natural makeup, cut creases, smokey eye. They just make sure that you’re ready to roll and you could do a full face in 10 minutes. The school offered me a lot of opportunities to be like on sets. It’s given me the opportunity to network with different people in the industry and it’s really healthy to like work my way up, get my own clients. I got to work with Cardi B, G-Eazy and ASAP Rocky. I also got to work with Wiz Khalifa, I got to work with Kenny E, DJ Carnage, Rich the Kid, Chris Brown, the list goes on forever.

This school has provided me with more than enough opportunities. One of the most memorable moments on set for me was when I got to work with one of my favorite makeup artists and she actually came up to me and she saw how hard I was working, and she asked for my number to start booking me for gigs, and that really meant a lot to me.
