Fundamentals:
Online Hair Artistry
Learn the fundamentals. This course will teach the A-Zs of Hair Artistry from hair kit tools and sanitation, preparing your client, understanding hair types, curls, waves, braids, avant-garde hair, finishing and smoothing and much more. Learning the fundamentals and adding the knowledge of advanced skills from optional follow-up in-person courses will allow you to build your portfolio.
Fundamentals:

- Out of State? Out of the Country? Want to come visit? No problem, we offer fast-tracked learning with a 3 day Hyper course — Private Learning.

There is no difference in curriculum between the two. Online Hair Artistry is an online course which is designed so you can learn at your own pace. Watch video demos, read your ebook, take quizzes, complete HW, all through your portal with direct support, review, and feedback from our pro instructors. Online is a great option for non-local students or students who need more time to complete their education. Hyper Hair Artistry is a in-person at our Academy in Hollywood. Hypers are private one-on-one courses with the student and our pro instructor. The hyper ranges from 4-5 consecutive days total depending on the student’s availability. Hypers are an excellent option for students who prefer to learn their fundamentals in-person in a hands-on and one-on-one environment with our pro MVA instructors.

Portfolio Building Galore:
Elite Hair Artistry
Get hands-on in the studio and build your personal portfolio. Elite Hair Artistry will build on the fundamentals you have from MVA courses or personal work experience. This course takes everything to the next level in building a career. Class is once a week for 6 weeks. Each week focuses on a specific Hair look/technique. Students do the look on a model, the model is professionally styled, and then professionally photographed at our state of the arts film and photography soundstage studios. This unique customized course selections, only at MVA, builds student’s portfolios and provides invaluable hands-on experience. Students are provided with a professional model, stylist, and pro photographer.
EHA builds off of what you learn in Fundamentals and teaches you new and advanced techniques that you did not cover in Fundamentals via hands-on learning. Each week you’ll create a Hair makeup look using your Fundamentals theory and take it to the next level using new techniques taught only in EHA. After completing the look it will be taken to the studio to be professionally styled and photographed. Here are the topics/looks you will complete:
- Creating or enhancing texture
- Bridal Updos
- Hollywood Glam Waves
- Editorial High Ponytail
- Braids (simple 3 strand braid, on-scalp braid, french or dutch braid, and fishtail braid)
- Finals: Design your own hair styling look with a bonus demo on Finger Waves
